The Lost Pubs

CLUE: Multiply 5 x 9 and then you'll find upon old Severn street, the third letter within the tool farmers use to earn their keep.

Castlefields at one time had at least nine pubs! In Severn Street alone, there was the Dog and Pheasant, the Plough and, at the top on the right, the Castle Vaults. Bass and Worthington were common beers but beers and ales from local breweries like Trouncers and Southams would certainly have been sold as well.

This location is where one of many lost pubs in Castlefields stood. The Plough is now a private house, and without the plaque you may never have known!
