The Dog and Pheasant

CLUE: A Flaxmill worker hid the letter as his second favourite animal to roast.

At this location you will find one of the few remaining pubs on your route. Still a popular local, the pub is well known for its pie competition and friendly atmosphere.

The Dog and Pheasant

Why not treat yourself to a drink and a seat while you read more?

First recorded in 1868, the Dog and Pheasant was originally run by Mrs Mary Besant. It was an alehouse, obliged to its brewery - Messrs Trouncers - for beer and stout, but not for spirits. Since then the owners have changed, and is now one of the only remaining pubs in this area of the many originally open on this street.
