The Butchers

If you look at the rows of houses you might have noticed that they vary in not only height but also brick type. This is because the area was split up into plots and each plot was built on by different small groups of local builders each of whom would have built in their own styles.

The road is named after two of the original owners of the Ditherington Flaxmill - the Benyon brothers. They, along with Charles Bage, left the partnership with John Marshall and built a second massive Flaxmill in Castlefields - right where you are now!
