CLUE: Looking over 1871, on the site of the old Perseverance Iron Works, you will find your letter. It's the first letter of the third word of the company motto.

This building looks ordinary at first glance.

However, from the hand painted dates showing its gradual growth, to the old company motto above the main sign, these walls hide more than you may think!

This pub was first recorded in 1786, and is notable for being the only timber-framed building left on Castle Foregate. It was called the Plough as it was next to the iron works, which made lots of agricultural machinery.

This inn was first recorded in 1780, to be demolished in 1990 to make way for housing. In 1849, the "Salopian Wonder" (John Thomas) accomplished some of his feats here at an event sanctioned by the Mayor of Shrewsbury. See the newspaper clipping below, tap to enlarge:
